Rehearsals are currently underway for Luis Fernandes’ new play and webseries – P’Dale.  This riotous ode to the streets of Parkdale will be available as a web series soon, with episode one shot and undergoing editing at this very moment.   P’Dale will also feature as a play in this year’s Toronto Fringe Festival, tying the internet and theatre together in one nifty package.  Speaking of which – the Fringe is fast approaching and space is already booking up at Unit 102, so if you’re interesed in booking some rehearsal time for your ventures, please contact us.

New Collective News

The Parkdale Players have changed their name!   We are now the Unit 102 Theatre Collective.  Operating out of the Unit 102 Theatre (see how that works) in the back streets of sunny Parkdale, we are a group of theatre artists who have recently concluded an exciting 2010 season with runs of three successful plays:  Sam Shepard’s True West, David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow, and Patrick Marber’s Closer.  Plans for the 2011 season are underway, so look out for more gritty, hard-hitting theatre coming your way.

In the meantime, we are featuring a screening of the much-heralded movie Pieces, on October 24, just in time for the Halloween festivities.  Widely regarded as one of the worst horror films ever made, this is one not to miss.  The screening kicks of our new Sunday night film series.  The plan is to show local indie films, underviewed masterpieces, cult classics, and other random celluloid fun at our cosy little theatre.  Conversation, coffee, libations and other locutions are sure to follow the screenings so please come out  and waste a Sunday night with us.  The series starts October 24 at 8 pm at Unit 102 Theatre, 46 Noble St.  A $5 donation will go directly into the rental of the space. In related news, our good friends at Column 13 are mounting a production of Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross at 102 in  early November.  This is sure to be a roller coaster of a show, so stay tuned for more details.

Finally, as always, the space is available for rent.  We still have times for rehearsals and shows but the time-slots are going fast.  If you are interested e-mail us at unit102space@gmail.com.
